Project Component L

Directions:

Think about finalizing the story of your research question. Your poster can only contain some of the graphs and analyses you’ve conducted – you will want to focus on telling a clear and complete story.

Keep in mind that presentations should only be 5 minutes. Therefore, you will have to filter down what you plan to include on your poster and communicate during your presentation. You will likely want to include approximately 2 graphs on your poster (but this is not a strict requirement – you only want to include graphs if they help you tell your story!). Too many graphs can be distracting – so think carefully about what takeaways you want your audience to have.

Decide on the graphs you will want to include on your poster and clean them up. Some tips: Graphs that are being used for your final presentation should: (1) Be clearly and accurately labeled, (2) Avoid codebook variable names and dummy-codes, (3) Have a large enough font size to be read from the back of the room when projecting your screen (this is often bigger than you think is necessary), you may need to rotate x-axis labels if the text overlaps (theme(text = element_text(size = 20), axis.text.x = element_text(angle = 90, hjust = 1))), (4) change the default colors.
